The Best Day Ever! Blood Drive

Pints4Goose's 3rd blood drive of the year marks the day that shocked us all when results showed that Lucy was in remission, August 11th. And although we never got to celebrate this anniversary with her here this is still a day to celebrate her small victory and give back to current AZ patients in need of blood.
The blood drive is on Sunday, August 11th from 3-8PM and we highly recommend appointments, but walk-ins will never be turned away. Food and drink provided inside the house as well as free childcare!

Lucy's 7th Birthday
Memorial Donation Drive
This year to honor Lucy's birthday we are collecting gift cards to be gifted to families at PCH. We are all too familiar with the strain of constantly driving to and from the hospital, living on a diet of hospital cafeteria food and trying to maintain stability for the rest of your family while devoting yourself to the care of your sick child. Our hope is that with the smallest gesture we can help make the weight of this situation feel just a little bit lighter. No gift is too small, even $5 for a cup of coffee and muffin brings hope. xo
We will collect donations from now until the end of the blood drive on the 4th, and then our family will deliver them along with our annual birthday goodie bags to Child Life to be distributed to patients.

We will be collecting New/Unopened video games (PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One) for the 7th floor playroom's collection. They have requested the newest releases (sports games etc.) that they often don't get! Let's show them how much Team Lucy Goose loves and supports PCH's patients!

It will begin at 9 AM and will run until 2 PM-- or until all eligible donors have been able to finish their donation!

United Blood Services needs our help...
Blood supplies coast-to-coast are dangerously low due to a severe dip in donations leading up to and following the July 4th holiday, prompting a coordinated nationwide call for donors of blood of all types.And we have answered the call and will be hosting our very 1st "Pop-Up" blood drive on August 11, 2017 from 3-7 PM right in our very own driveway! There is an extremely limited 28 slots for whole-blood donors (preserving those power reds so that our donors can join us for Lucy's birthday memorial drive in November) Please follow the link below to the FB event to be kept in the loop and to grab your spot! Current forecasting projects a shortfall of 5,700 donations throughout our 28-state service area in July and greater shortfalls throughout the summer. These 5,700 donations have the power to help up to 17,100 in need of blood transfusions. This critical need is occurring throughout the country. Patients in need tomorrow are relying on blood donors today to make sure blood is available for both critical and ongoing needs.

This May 19, 2017 we will be hosting our 4th blood drive in honor of Lucy at Gateway Polytechnic Academy in Mesa, AZ. Please click the link above to reserve your time slot-- walk-ins will, of course, be welcome the entire drive as well.We will also be collecting hats from now through the end of the drive to donate to the patients on the 7th floor. Heading into summer most all will either have a bald head, like our Goosey did, or will be regrowing hair; either way they have extremely sensitive skin so a fun cap will help to encourage protection from our brutal AZ summer sun! I cannot wait to see what fun and creative hats we can collect for the kids to choose from-- the sky is the limit! If you are local you can drop them off to one of us directly or bring them with when you come to donate. If you are not local we would still love for you to participate in both drives. To donate blood, please locate your closest donor center and sign up for May 19th! If you would like to participate in the hat drive you may mail the hats to the address below. As always, thank you for joining us in honoring our brave baby girl, Lucy.

Over the course of just 158 days of treatment Goose recieved an astounding 113 different blood product transfusions. As our way of thanking those who helped give us an extra 5 months with her, we are attempting to pay it forward and spread the life-saving power of blood donations. We host blood drives in her honor twice a year: On her birthday, November 4, and the day she was diagnosed and received her first transfusion, May 19.
